Mission Systems is a strategic business unit of Collins Aerospace specializing in the supply of mission-critical systems enabling military, government, and civil customers to complete their most complex missions safely and successfully.
The Role:
Reporting to the UK based Director of Business Development, FVEYs, we are looking to hire an experienced Senior Business Development Manager based in Canada, focused on developing & qualifying new opportunities and relationships with Department of National Defense (DND), Public Services & Procurement Canada (PSPC) and the Army end user communities combined with supporting existing strategic pursuits in the Canadian Land C4ISR portfolio.
Primary Responsibilities: The Senior Business Development Manager will interface with external and internal stakeholders and be responsible for understanding Concepts of Operation, program plans, technical requirements, investment and acquisition plans of the Canadian Army and DND. The successful candidate should have demonstrable Business Development experience in Land C4ISR, Fires and/or Multi Domain Strike with a focus on solution concepts that Connect the Battlespace. A thorough understanding of how Canadian Defense Acquisition works through DND, PSPC, ISED as well as the competitive Canadian industrial base and prime contractors is essential.
The role is focused on identifying and incubating a pipeline of new business opportunities, influencing, and shaping customers’ requirements and recommending a pursuit order capture plan to internal Collins stakeholders. Responsibility includes execution of this plan to contract award and resulting order intake working in conjunction with the capture team. For already identified large Strategic Pursuits, the successful candidate will work in a supporting role to the Capture Manager with a focus on customer relationship building, sustainable affinity and being the voice of the customer internal to Collins Aerospace.
Specific Responsibilities Include:
Developing a growth pipeline of new opportunities through a comprehensive customer network of contacts, application of operational analysis, knowledge of military doctrine, requirements analysis and an understanding of DND investment plans
Accountability for annual and 5-year prospect pipeline generation and assigned orders forecast
Working collaboratively as a team to execute the Pursuit Order Capture (POC) process to contract award
Supporting the development of competitive assessments, Price to Win and Win Strategies
Working in support of the Capture Manager and with a large team to win strategic pursuits, building and expand relationships and customer affinity across key stakeholders and decision makers in Government, end-user communities, OEMs, Primes and/or System Integrators
Supporting the analysis of competitors' strategy and development of counter strategies
Conduct customer needs assessment, develop and execute key relationship and influencing plans
Working with colleagues to formulate solutions to grow Mission Systems business in Canada
Support of the 5-year strategic and financial planning process
Working collaboratively with key internal stakeholders in the U.S., the UK and Australia
Creation and maintenance of a network of customer contacts
Support the FVEYs and Canadian Marketing efforts with analysis and assessments using standard company tools and techniques

Basic Qualifications:
Typically requires a University Degree and minimum 10 years prior relevant experience or
An Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 7 years of experience or
In absence of a degree, 14 years of relevant experience
Must be a Canadian citizen
Must either hold or be eligible for a Government of Canada Secret Level Security Clearance and Controlled Goods Access
Extensive knowledge and experience of the military market environment in Canada. Must have knowledge of Canada Defense budget, programs and requirements development, acquisition and in-service support process, with a demonstrated ability to match the customer's requirements with relevant solutions (system integration, product and sustainment)
Network of contacts and experience working with Canadian defense OEM/ Prime integrators on defense pursuits
Proven track record in pursuing and winning significant and complex Defense programs
Strong network within the Canadian Armed Forces (Army and/or Joint in particular) and government entities (including user(s), DND (ADM Mat, PSPC, ISED, etc).
Knowledge of and experience in Communications and Networking, Land C4ISR, and in Multi/Pan-Domain, Connected Battlespace operations
Strategic thinking and leadership skills
Strong communication skills, demonstrated ability to solve customer problems and to be a customer advocate
Passion for winning new competitive business
Ability to regularly travel in Canada and occasionally Internationally
Preferred Qualifications:
Military operations or government procurement background/experience
