Behind the scenes, but ahead of the curve: help us develop the next-generation public broadcaster.

Created in 2015 to align, lighten and modernize infrastructure, the Technology & Infrastructure (T & I) team is the backbone and the future forward arm of CBC/Radio-Canada. We are the people that make stuff work. We make connections; between media content, systems, people and places. We are the space in between.

A place with purpose. CBC/Radio-Canada has always been a highly-regarded pioneer of media technology. Not just in Canada, but around the world. Today, we’re transforming ourselves from conventional radio and television broadcaster into a modern digital media company. Technology is the driving force. T & I is the team making it happen.

This role is a hybrid work arrangement. Work schedule to be discussed with Hiring Manager according to the guidelines defined by the department.

  Your role

CBC/Radio-Canada is seeking a Senior Analyst reporting to the Manager, Expertise Centre, User Technology. In this role, you will be a key player supporting the live environment and the end user technology infrastructure.

You will be responsible for managing the company's workstations and mobile devices and will participate in the strategy to modernize the solutions for user technology management. You will be called upon to provide expertise in workstation management, corporate image design, application deployment and configuration of user workstation policies and compliance. The candidate will have the opportunity to take part in decisions relating to the design and implementation of new processes, new systems and new versions of software intended for the production environment, in addition to having the opportunity to implement best practices in place to support cloud solutions.

Please note that this position may be based in Montreal, Ottawa or Toronto.

  What’s in it for you?

Challenges: We spend our days solving problems on an unbelievable scale. This is a chance to take on the challenges of looking back and deepening your understanding of desktop environments in order to move us further ahead, into a new way of managing user environments. From introducing best practices to writing scripts that exploit APIs to generate reports, there is a lot of new and exciting work to be done here.

Be part of the change. Right now, we are looking for people who can execute our strategy: innovators who want to push future-forward thinking; and builders who want to be hands-on, building the next generation of media technology for CBC/Radio-Canada employees. We want to hear the ideas, see the designs and implement the innovations brought to us by our teams. You want to be part of our digital workspace transformation effort where you can develop the skills to introduce and manage processes and tools. A place where you will be part of discovering and applying emerging technologies to support the business units’ IT initiatives.

Cutting-edge tech. Data management. Cloud migration. IP for broadcast. AI. Security and reliability. The road ahead changes every day. By joining us now, you will become both pioneer and expert with a highly specialized, in-demand skill set as you help us take steps forward. As the official providers of technology to CBC/Radio-Canada, you will be joining the team that touches the latest technologies. You will have a chance to influence the choice and use of newer technologies and introduce changes to the processes.

How you will make a difference as part of a group responsible for:

Software deployment. You will script the logic, package and deploy new software to specific subsets of end-users using our management tools. You will document the process and determine the parameters for deployment, taking into consideration dependencies, time-of-day restrictions, targeted end-users, etc.

Configuration and compliance policies management. You will be responsible for designing, maintaining and updating workstation configurations (images) across the Corporation, changing them when workstations are non-compliant, etc. On rare occasions, this will require off-hours support.

Management of vendor relationships. You will engage with third-party support for our printer fleet, cloud providers and other externally managed services.

Subscription management. You will oversee the rollout of Office 365 and Google Workspace (subscriptions and licences as well as revoking access when applicable). You will manage mobile device licences and access.

  What you bring:

The education. You have a diploma in computer science, information technology or a related field

The experience. You have 5 to 7 years of experience as a Senior Analyst. You have worked with endpoint management solutions such as Microsoft Endpoint Manager (SCCM) and Microsoft Intune . You know how to design Powershell and Bash scripts to handle complex, multi-stage configuration or software deployments in both Windows and MacOS environments. You have worked in cloud-based environments such as Azure and/or Google, scripting and programming. You have exposure to user environments in typical enterprises. You have an awareness of the tools — and the alternatives — for software deployment to internal teams. You are familiar and have worked with Windows, MacOS, Android and iOS parameters.

The communication skills. You are bilingual (English and French). You are skilled at presenting ideas, documenting processes and workflows and relaying your opinions with sensitivity. You know how to listen and you understand perspectives.

The collaborative approach. You thrive in a team-focused environment. You adapt easily to group dynamics and are willing to take on a central role when required.

The relationship-building finesse . You can foster relationships with peers, partners, clients, staff, senior managers and external technological vendors.

The analytical skills . You are a problem-solver, researcher and detail-oriented planner.

The bridging capability. You work on the cutting edge of technology and pick up new tools quickly. You are aware of modern best practices and you thrive in an Agile environment. You can adapt to working with older, legacy systems. You understand how to elicit the requirements of the business and present solutions both immediate and long-term that will keep us moving forward.

Candidates may be subject to skills and knowledge testing.

We thank all applicants for their interest, but only candidates selected for an interview will be contacted.
