About our Team
The Compliance team is responsible for performing all corporate tax and statutory reporting tasks. We work closely with global teams in Group Reporting, Global Financial Services, RELX Tax and Financial Planning and Analysis. We ensure the financial statements for assigned entities and countries are reported accurately.
About the Role
In this position, you will deliver efficient and accurate reporting of the statutory financial statements and account reconciliation globally. You will interface with our international auditors and accountants to prepare statutory financial statements, coordinate statutory audits and complete financial statements. You will drive the resolution of any issues that arise in connection with the local statutory audits.
Responsibilities
Managing the timeline and budget with external auditors, leading the financial statement sign-off process for each legal entiity filing.
Keeping up-to-date with local Generally Accepted Accounting Principles changes to determine impacts for the respective Elsevier entities.
Ensuring that a regular bridge is maintained between Group and Statutory ledgers
Ongoing reconciliation between group and statutory accounts. Providing oversight of the statutory implications of business combinations.
Preparing year-end tax provision work and delivery to RELX tax group. Providing supporting documentation and explanations to local Advisors on corporate income tax matters.
Recommending entity-specific process improvements including the use of secondary vs adjustment ledgers. Building files and templates that extract data from the source, reducing manual intervention.
Standardizing annual financial statement skeletons, in coordination with RELX and external advisors.
Driving operational excellence into processes and procedures. Supporting in the implementation of the Group Finance Competency Framework.
Requirements
Possess financial skills with in-depth accounting knowledge and understanding of the end-to-end audit process.
Experience in project and stakeholder management and able to cross-functionally collaborate.
Experience working in Microsoft Excel and Word to an advanced level.
Possess fluency in German.
Possess an educational background in finance, accounting, or a related field.
Possess practical experience and have understanding of accounting principles and corporate income tax.
Be able to work practically and cross-functionally, managing multiple priorities and competing deliverables.
