DESCRIPTION OF WORK
In this role, your primary responsibility will be to support the Bureau of Abandoned Mine Reclamation in the effective operation and maintenance of both active and passive acid mine drainage treatment facilities. These facilities play a crucial role in mitigating and controlling the impact of acid mine drainage on the Pine Creek and Clearfield Creek watersheds. You will specifically assist in various aspects of managing the Cresson Treatment Facility while also providing similar services to other active and passive acid mine drainage treatment facilities in the surrounding area as required. A key aspect of your role will involve maintaining the operations of a computerized acid mine drainage water treatment plant and facility. This will include ensuring that necessary adjustments are made to discharge water that meets specific water quality parameters. Additionally, you will be responsible for operating various equipment, such as excavators, backhoes and loaders, skid steers, pipe cleaners, snowplows, riding and push mowers, and weed eaters, after receiving proper training.
Another important aspect of your role will be to repair and maintain motors, mixers, pumps, and other equipment involved in the processing of acid mine drainage. This will require your expertise in troubleshooting and conducting necessary repairs to ensure the smooth functioning of the treatment facilities. Additionally, you will be responsible for conducting occasional inspections and maintaining passive treatment systems. As part of your duties, you will also be required to collect water samples, conduct measurements, and record findings as assigned. This data collection and analysis will contribute to the ongoing monitoring and assessment of the treatment facilities' effectiveness in addressing acid mine drainage. Furthermore, you will be responsible for maintaining the buildings, grounds, and related areas under the jurisdiction of the Wildwood and Cresson Treatment Plants, ensuring a safe and well-maintained environment for both staff and visitors.Interested in learning more?
