Cognosante is seeking an outgoing, organized, eager, and proactive individual to fill a remote Security Officer role to support the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) Medicare contract. This contract is a critical component of defending the Medicare Trust Fund by collecting billions of dollars annually in mistaken payments from debtors. The CMS Medicare contract is the center point of that process – combining both Coordination of Benefits case work and Data Collection from Beneficiaries, Group Health Plans (GHP) and Non-Group Health Plans (NGHP) to ensure accurate payment of Medicare claims.
What is the position?
The Security Officer will play a pivotal role in ensuring the effective implementation of necessary safeguards to protect sensitive information, uphold compliance with regulatory requirements, and maintain the integrity and confidentiality of the Medicare program. This position is contingent upon contract award
What will I get to do?
Serves as a key role on the contract.
Assume responsibility for the comprehensive security oversight of the Medicare program.
Implement and manage security measures in alignment with industry standards, regulatory guidelines, and organizational policies.
Develop and execute strategies to ensure the implementation of necessary safeguards to protect Medicare program data and assets.
Conduct regular assessments and audits to identify and address potential security vulnerabilities.
Ensure that security practices and safeguards align with all applicable regulations, including but not limited to those set forth by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS).
Collaborate with relevant stakeholders to address compliance requirements.
Develop and maintain an incident response plan tailored to the unique security needs of the Medicare program.
Lead investigation and management of security incidents, implementing corrective actions as necessary.
Serve as the primary point of contact for all security-related matters pertaining to the Medicare program.
Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including regulatory bodies, to address security concerns and ensure open lines of communication.
Provides task unique functional expertise necessary to interpret requirements, ensure responsiveness and achieve successful performance.
Provide training to staff involved in the Medicare program on security best practices and compliance requirements.
Participate in business, technical, and security reviews of the solution to explain selected security and privacy controls.
Foster a culture of security awareness and accountability throughout the program.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of security activities, measures, and incidents.
Prepare and submit regular reports to management, outlining the status of security initiatives and compliance measures.
Oversight for all vendor and third-party contractors’ security compliance
Contributes to the implementation of strategy and helps assess the impact of industry trends, policy, and/or standard methodologies.

What qualifications do I need?
Bachelor’s degree.
5 or more years of relevant experience.
Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) certification.
Proven experience in a security management role, preferably in the context of healthcare or Medicare programs.
Experience with CMS CMSR and working in CFACTS.
Experience with ATO, POAM, and Vulnerability management.
In-depth knowledge of security frameworks, regulations, and best practices.
Possess demonstrated knowledge in designated field or discipline.
Possesses experience providing solutions to an organization’s challenges through the application of knowledge gained through similar prior engagements.
Participates in the development of solutions by leveraging knowledge of the designated field or discipline.
Possess knowledge in implementing and reviewing NIST security control.
Must be a US Citizen or Authorized to work in the US (if not a citizen) and a resident of the US for at least 3 years within the last 5 years.

Compensation
$96,760.98 - $154,817.56
The pay range for this job is determined by various factors, including but not necessarily limited to location, responsibilities of the job, and alignment with market data. When determining a salary for this role, the following factors may be taken into consideration - contract-specific affordability, education, knowledge, skills, competencies and experience. The estimate displayed represents the salary range for this position and is just one component of Cognosante’s total compensation package for employees.
