Salary negotiation may be available for those candidates who are new to Federal service. Responsibilities Control access of vehicles, visitors and pedestrians into military installations. Screen employees, visitors, and contractor personnel for visitor access on military installations. Operate the National Crime Information Center (NCIC) terminal in accordance with (IAW) federal and state laws. Control, prepare and issue identification badges, cards and passes that allow access to the installation. Deny access to unauthorized personnel or those who do not meet authorized entry criteria. Make instantaneous decisions regarding use of deadly force, operate Active Vehicle Barrier when required, and alert appropriate officials of apparent security violations. Conduct foot or vehicle patrol of perimeters, roadways, parking and other high traffic areas as well as interior of shops, storage administrative and other structures. Conduct traffic stops at the Installation Access Control Point (IACP) for safety and security checks. Specialized Experience at GS-06 level: One year of specialized experience which includes work with federal, state, municipal, local or private protective organization performing access control, using physical access control equipment, safeguarding personnel, information and critical assets, recording visitor information, and determining whether appropriate authorization for access exists. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05). Specialized Experience at GS-05 level: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: controlling access to a facility; searching various types of vehicles; verify identification; AND/OR performing traffic control duties and operating radios to pass and receive information. Specialized experience equivalent to the GS-04 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized Experience at GS-04 level: Six months of general experience which includes: following written procedures, rules, and regulations in contacts with staff members or the public to provide a service, respond to inquiries, or obtain information AND six months of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-03 grade level in the Federal service which includes protecting property against such hazards as fire, theft, damage, accident, or trespass; AND/OR maintaining order and protecting life. OR I have successfully completed two years of education above the high school level in an accredited college or university. Minimum Qualification at GS-03 level: I have successfully completed one year of education above the high school level in an accredited college or university.
