About Security Guard

  Summary This is a Standing Register Open Continuous position (Announcement closing January 3rd 2025) with the first cut-off on 17 January 2024. If you are not selected in the first cut-off you can reapply. About the Position: These positions are located in the U.S. Army Installation Management Command Directorate of Emergency Services, Physical Security Branch, Security Guard on Redstone Arsenal. Responsibilities Conduct vehicle searches/inspections in accordance with standing operating procedures. Inspect containers, personal property documents on private property, and commercial and government vehicles. Screen Employees, visitors, and contractor personnel for visitor access on military installations. When required, make independent decisions regarding the use of deadly force, operate active vehicle barriers and alert appropriate official of apparent security violation. Conduct traffic stops at the Installation Access Control Points for safety and security checks. Control, prepare, issue identification badges and passes that allow access of civilian, military, contractor personnel and visitor on the installation. Respond to telephone and in-person inquiries, by providing guidance and information on security regulations and procedures. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes working in a Federal service which includes enforcing security regulations to protect facilities and personnel; controlling access of vehicles; preventing security violations and experience such as work with Federal, State, municipal, local or private protective organization that involved the protection against such hazards as fire, theft, damage, accident, or trespass; or maintaining order and protecting life. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Incident Response Oral Communication Search Techniques Security Enforcement Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-05). Applicants must meet eligibility requirements including time-in-grade, time-after-competitive appointment, minimum qualifications, and any other regulatory requirements within 30 days of the closing date of this announcement. Education FOREIGN EDUCATION: If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university. Additional Information Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration.
