What You’re Applying For: Edmunds is looking for a Script Writer to be an integral member of our 40+ person editorial team. The right candidate will be trustworthy, unbiased and capable of connecting with car shoppers on their level. This means putting aside your own personal biases in favor of one that looks at each vehicle as a potential purchase. The role must be able to produce insightful scripts that tell a story and give car shoppers the latest information. Our ideal candidate can find the unique angle to each idea and bring that story to life. We're looking for someone who relishes the challenge of keeping up with fast-breaking developments and making quick judgments about which topics to cover. They’ll love ideating with an eye on building audience numbers and engagement across our video and social channels. What You’ll Do: • Research and write engaging, entertaining and industry-leading (automotive) scripts for our growing YouTube and social channels • Fact-check scripts and videos • Identify strong story ideas and play and integral role in developing and scripting, along with our producers, video creatives, and extended content team • Reporting to the Manager of video editorial, and working with the Executive Director, Video, and the broader video team to bring to life engaging stories and formats across Edmunds video channels • Work with the Social Media Senior Director and the broader social team to bring to life engaging stories and video formats across Edmunds social channels • On occasion, work with the Executive Director, Written and Director, Editorial Content in supporting news, feature and other written content • Contribute to maintaining an environment that’s based on creativity, communication and transparency What You Need: • Experience creating automotive video content in either a broadcast or online environment • Experience writing for multiple hosts or presenters with distinct voices • Able to create factual, yet entertaining scripts with an injection of humor and levity to engage both the everyday car shopper and enthusiast • Able to explain technical concepts in a simple way that engages the everyday car shopper and the enthusiast • An authentic passion for cars. You're fanatical and deeply knowledgeable about our subject matter, giving you instant credibility both internally and externally • Top-level script writing and innovative storytelling across all media, with an emphasis on video • Automotive industry knowledge • Able to be an active contributor within our team of hosts and writers. You’ll be hands on with writing (scripts, and accompanying articles), ideating (video, social), editing and fact checking. • Personal reliability and integrity. Your colleagues know they can rely on you in every respect; you model this trait in all that you do • High comfort level in taking the initiative and managing multiple projects and deadlines with an exacting attention to detail • Ability to work cross-functionally across the organization • Experience with video and social media platforms and audiences • Ability to convey thoughts and ideas clearly and effectively in visual, verbal and written format • Able to listen to feedback and adjust course accordingly The compensation range for this position is $76,200 - $132,900 per year. The base pay will take into account internal equity as well as job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors.
