Position Summary:
The Quality Control (QC) Scientist is primarily responsible for the quality control of starting materials, in-process materials and the finished goods. T he incumbent must be a dynamic individual who can work in a diversified group and able to handle multi-task s with in QC operations. The candidate must possess a good working knowledge of Analytical Chemistry . This positio n require s hands on chemistry lab work and troubleshoot instruments and solve complex spectroscopic problems.
Key Responsibilities:
Perform the daily Production Quality Control (QC) work of raw materials, in-process materials, and the finished goods, providing technical support and reviewing work outputs when needed.
Work closely with QC Lab Supervisor(s) at all levels to ensure product quality and delivery schedules meet customer specifications and expectations.
Develop new methods for new products together with the QC team and design chemists.
Operate ICP-OES, ICP-MS, IC, GC, and KF instrumentation.
Troubleshoot production issues that exhibit special process problems by working closely with Production Lab Supervisor.
Adhere to all safety, quality, process, housekeeping and company policies/procedures to ensure compliance to various regulatory and internal system requirements.
Contribute to a positive and cooperative work environment through effective communication. Communicate exceptions to established/agreed upon schedules to all affected parties internal and external.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Education:
Minimum Bachelor's degree in Chemistry or related field.
Experience:
At least 1 year experience operating ICP-OES, ICP-MS, IC, GC, and/or KF instrumentation is required.
Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:
Proficiency with instrumental analysis and data interpretation.
Previous project management experience is a plus.
Solid knowledge on general quality control procedures and methodologies.
Hands on experience in sample preparation for analytical testing
Good computer skills (requiring Microsoft Word, Excel, and LIMS) and mathematics background is required.
Excellent verbal and written communication and people skills. Must read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
Self-motivated, multi-tasking, ability to work alone, or in a team.
Methodical and pays attention to detail.
Knowledgeable/familiarity in the areas of Lean Manufacturing, statistical process control (SPC) is a plus.
Thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment, efficiently works under pressure, within deadlines or other time essential constraints.
Strong work ethic and an ability to excel within a rapidly changing and growing organization.
