In this role, you are an internally recognized specialist in analytical sciences who works independently to organize project work, teams and establish project technical scope and approach. You manage project design and delivery while still retaining a hands-on approach to analytical work. Your work includes large, complex projects that may be multi-department, cross-functional, and multi-country in nature. You offer people leadership, execute strategies or goals to meet business needs and interact independently with senior management and stakeholders.
How you will contribute
You will provide technical expertise including training and mentoring junior team members and plant staff, both in the laboratory and in the factories. You will ensure that projects are completed on time and that the data produced and used by project/plant teams are of the highest quality and are carried out safely and in compliance with industry laboratory/plant standards. In this role, you will review and approve scientific reports, method development and validations, authorize competencies in your area of expertise and independently perform complex method development and design validations protocols. In addition, you will maintain and troubleshoot analytical equipment, ensure a clean, tidy and safe working environment, and perform and approve risk assessments. Excellent communication and influencing skills will be required to engage effectively with plants, suppliers, and other team members, often remotely. You will need to work alongside plant and lab teams, write technical reports, check data, offer interpretations of results and interact with internal and external holders using influencing and presentation skills to present project proposals and results.

o Significant hands on NIR and/or spectroscopy experience including building calibrations, method development, validation and troubleshooting problems.
o Strong IT and statistical analysis skills
o Strong team working, influencing and communication skills. This role will require working closely together with plant staff, from operators to engineering staff, to instrument suppliers to plant and quality managers.
o Strong organizational skills.
o Ability to work and problem solve independently, with little local supervision.
o Strong safety ethic
Preferable
o Experience in working in a technical support or similar role.
o Food science knowledge
o Familiar with working in industrial/factory environments.

What you need to know about this position:
This position is within the R&D Global Analytical function, working within the Global Manufacturing Analytical Program (GMAP) team focusing on the development, implementation and maintenance for the measurement of key product parameters during their manufacture. Travel to plants occasionally to implement in-line analytical sensors, train the local plant teams and ensure ongoing measurement data quality will be a key part of your role.
In addition, you will also be expected to be an active team member of the Global Analytical lab team at your base location, providing analytical expertise to the local category product development teams, as and when required.
