About Scheduler

  POSITION SUMMARYPlans, prepares, issues and controls production schedules and coordinates with material requirements to ensure a controlled flow of approved materials timed to meet production requirements. Advises management of the status of work in progress, material availability, and potential production problems to ensure that personnel, equipment, materials, and services are provided as needed. Schedules equipment and personnel, confirms material supply and demands, prepares work orders or purchase requests for the production or purchase of components or parts based on a master production schedule, shop load and inventory requirements. Coordinates interdepartmental activity with quality assurance, manufacturing, purchasing, engineering, inventory control, traffic, etc.; schedules and expedites the movement of parts by means of move orders, stock transfers and requests for shipping orders.

  Key Performance Indicators (KPI) are as follows: ensure that all projects in the yard meet their deliverables 95% of the time; ensures that all projects are on budget 95% of the time; ensures exemplary customer service by subordinate staff 100% of the time.

  ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONSEssential Functions Statement(s)Advises company management team regarding manning and expense goals and ensures efforts are made to meet projectionsDetermines operations improvements in relation to safety, quality, manning, scheduling, etc.Generate work specifications for overhaul and repair of marine machineryMaintain a balanced workload between different sections of the scheduling processAdvise a production workforce on processes and/or proceduresUse of standardized estimating procedures and material costPrepare technical work documents and specifications for production workCoordinate planning for ship work projects to verify projects are completed in accordance with established timelines

Must be able to communicate with employees of varying education levels and maintain positive employee relations.Must be a highly organized person who can monitor numerous projects at once and can prioritize the workloads of reporting employees. Effective time management skills are a must.

  SKILLS and ABILITIESEducation:Bachelors Degree in related field and minimum of two (2) years of scheduling experience, or an associate degree with at least six (6) years experienceExperience:Proficient in Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Project, PowerPoint)Strong critical thinking, roblem solving and analytical skillsStrong verbal and written communication skillsAbility to interact professionally with all levels of the organizationMust be detail-oriented and have proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneouslyStrong customer service skillsComputer Skills: General Computer Skills- Microsoft Office

  WORK ENVIRONMENTOutdoor Environment, Excessive Heat, Excessive ColdWork is performed in both offices and customer facilities, shipyards and vessels.Must be able to access all areas of shipyard and company property including shipyard and shipyard offices, dry-docks and terminals in all types of weather conditions.Use of safety equipment, such as hard hat and safety glasses and steel toed shoes is required.Some overtime and on-call status is required and employee may be required to work more than normal 40-hour week, including weekends.Regular and predictable attendance is required of this position.
