　　We are seeking a Safety Supervisor/ Driver Trainer who will be working out of our Jersey City Depot (264 Broadway, Jersey City, NJ 07306) but also throughout our NYC Market Area. Along with our Dispatchers, and under the supervision of the Director of Safety, our Safety Supervisors/ Driver Trainers are responsible for ensuring that on-site facility and route activities are compliant with safety, transportation and environmental policies and regulations This is a full-time, exempt position with a schedule starting at potentially early morning hours, Monday through Friday, and occasional evenings or overnight shifts depending on business needs.

　　The Safety Supervisor/Driver Trainer is an integral member of the Environmental, Health and Safety team, responsible for ensuring that the company’s Safety Programs are communicated, understood, and conducted at all levels of the organization. This position plays a key role in training and coaching new and current employees including managers in safe workplace practices and compliance with key policies and regulations. This position will support the New York City Market area.

　　Responsibilities

　　Performs CDL driver training inside and outside of classroom settings.

　　Educate and train employees on how to perform their job safely and efficiently.

　　Performs route safety observations, facility, and vehicle inspections.

　　Attend/help conduct safety and training meetings.

　　Potentially respond to incidents.

　　Participate and potentially lead post Incident Review Calls on Teams and/or in person. Additionally, help determine root cause and make recommendations for corrective actions.

　　Keep an open line of communication with operations management to report on issues and trends.

　　Develop effective safety and accident prevention programs to ensure all reasonable actions are taken to prevent accidents and injuries; ensure a safe and productive work environment for all employees; implement and maintain an effective safety program.

　　Engage employees in active participation to instill a culture of safety by demonstration of a personal commitment to safe operations and active personal outreach to operational employees.

　　Attend assigned Safety Meetings at the NYC Market Depots.

　　Performs other duties as assigned.

　　Qualifications

　　3+ years of experience in transportation or similar lead role.

　　Proficient knowledge and understanding of OSHA and DOT rules and regulations.

　　Current Driver’s License and no disqualifying violations on MVR; CDL preferred.

　　Sanitation/ Solid Waste Industry experience preferred.

　　Demonstrates a commitment to communicating, improving, and adhering to safety policies in all work environment areas. Promotes a positive safety culture through leadership by example.

　　Excellent ability to communicate, collaborate, and partner with Operations to ensure safe operations across our sites.

　　Good analytical and organizational skills with the ability to adapt to a fast-paced work environment.

　　Word and Excel skills for correspondence and reporting duties.

　　MS Outlook skills for regular daily communication with coworkers and departments

　　Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

　　Willingness to be flexible with schedule start and end times.

　　Be open and honest with team and manager on all levels.

　　Desire to learn, grow, and build your capacity to improve yourself and your team.
