THE ROLE
As a Safety Intern, you will have the unique opportunity to gain exposure to a variety of functional areas including Environmental, Health, Safety, Security, Facilities, and Operations. This role will provide support to the Oshkosh Safety team while working on a variety of projects that will focus on refinement, development and delivery of various elements of the Oshkosh Safety Management System (SMS).
YOUR IMPACT:
These duties are not meant to be all-inclusive and other duties may be assigned.
Partner with Oshkosh and Segment Safety professionals to design, implement, manage, and continuously improve elements of the SMS.
Specific projects may include:
Assist with SMS assessments to identify and communicate program strengths and opportunities at various business unit locations.
Assist with SMS assessment quality assurance reviews ensuring all identified opportunities have been addressed with documentation.
Support development and continuous improvement of the SMS through recommendations from third-party review.
Assist with delivery of new enterprise safety software solution.
Assisting with reviewing, developing and delivering training programs for various safety and health topics including new hire orientation programs.
Assist with trialing existing AI camera technology to aid in hazard recognition and mitigation for traffic, yard and dock safety.
This position may be assigned other projects or assignments.
WHAT YOU NEED:
Strong problem solving, critical thinking, judgment, and decision-making skills.
Strong skills using Microsoft Office programs – Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
The ability to work as part of a team, demonstrated through involvement with student organizations, community involvement, work experience, or other activities.
Student in a Sophomore standing or greater working towards a bachelor’s degree in occupational health and safety or related field.
