  Job Description:

  Volunteers are needed to assist staff, patients and families in the Emergency Room Department and Waiting Room.

  Volunteer Duties Description:

  Volunteers are needed to assist staff, patients and families in the Emergency Room Department and Waiting Room. Volunteers will be assisting staff with non-clinical duties. Duties include, but are not limited to, Greeting Patients, Assisting the Triage Nurse, Helping transport patients to rooms, Providing Distraction Activities with children and Providing comfort to the patients as directed by the nursing staff, Assisting the Nursing and Child Life staff as needed. Volunteers are needed for one 3-hour shift between 11a.m.-9p.m. on weekdays and 9a.m.-9a.m. on weekends.

  Requirements:

  A consecutive 60-hour (6-month) commitment, which entails volunteering one day per week for 3 hours;

  Completing a Drug Screening, TB Test, Immunization Check; and Passing a Background Check.

  Volunteers must be at least 20 years-old, must be fully vaccinated, and have an annual flu vaccination in the Fall.

  Qualifications:

  Able to read, speak, and understand English

  Able to work in team environment

  Able to work well with diverse populations

  Adequate hearing and vision (able to read small print)

  Good listening skills. Active listener

  Moderate lifting / carrying / pushing

  Good organizational skills

  Physical mobility (walking / bending / standing)

  Must be at least 20-years-old
