About Risk Adjustment (Finance) Intern – 2024 Summer Internship

  Healthfirst’s Summer 2024 Internship program is a 10-week paid internship beginning on June 3, 2024. Similar to our programs in the past, we will provide an immersive and interactive learning experience that lays a foundation for continued leadership development. Interns will do impactful work, working together with other Interns, Employees, and Business Leaders to solve current business problems and deliver solutions tied to our “Field of the Future” initiatives.

  Position Summary:

  The Risk Adjustment intern will be supporting the Encounters & Risk Adjustment team in functions that the team towards key processes and practices that drive risk score accuracy. The Risk Adjustment intern will contribute to a broad set of projects across the department.

  Duties and Responsibilities:

  Develop an understanding of the flow of revenue in government programs in managed care organizations with a focus on what risk adjustment means and impact to Healthfirst financial performance.

  Conduct actionable and real time insights and analyses on specific data sets that inform accurate risk scores.

  Develop and present recommendations for future Healthfirst initiatives and priorities.

  Conduct literature review and research on best on effective industry practices.

  Preferred Qualifications:

  Degree in Math, Economics, Finance, Business, Statistics, Actuarial Science or related programs

  Knowledge of SQL Based Applications

  Work Experience with MS Excel – Pivot Table creation and manipulations, formatting, complex formula creation (Vlookups, Index Functions, Boolean)

  Knowledge of data visualization or project experience with MS Powerpoint, Tableau or Power BI

  Exceptional verbal and written communication skills

  Minimum Qualifications:

  Undergraduate students must be a junior or senior at an accredited institution or have graduated within 12 months of the program. Graduate students must be enrolled at an accredited institution or have graduated within 12 months of the program.

  Knowledge of Healthcare Terminology such as Procedure Codes, Diagnosis Codes.

  Will not require sponsorship for employment

  Eligible to work in the U.S.

  Must have a minimum of a 3.0 GPA from an accredited school

  Hiring Range*:

  Greater New York City Area (NY, NJ, CT residents): $39,208 - $52,000

  All Other Locations (within approved locations): $34,091 - $49,920

  As a candidate for this position, your salary and related elements of compensation will be contingent upon your work experience, education, licenses and certifications, and any other factors Healthfirst deems pertinent to the hiring decision.

  In addition to your salary, Healthfirst offers employees a full range of benefits such as, medical, dental and vision coverage, incentive and recognition programs, life insurance, and 401k contributions (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). Healthfirst believes in providing a competitive compensation and benefits package wherever its employees work and live.

  *The hiring range is defined as the lowest and highest salaries that Healthfirst in “good faith” would pay to a new hire, or for a job promotion, or transfer into this role.
