JOB REQUIREMENTS: Overview Oversees the staffing and patient careoperations for the section of accountability and covers, as needed, theother areas in the absence of respective staff. ResponsibilitiesPerforms duties listed in the Lead Respiratory Therapist job descriptionCoordinates patient care operations, maintains optimal staffing levelsin relation to qualification and patient volume, and acts as a resourceto staff on patient care concerns to ensure quality service andcompliance. Train and develop staff to ensure retention of mosteffective employees by assessing needs and addressing performance andbehavior strength/weakness through the timely use of coaching, feedback,performance appraisals, corrective actions, and termination proceduresof staff. Monitor and assess patient and equipment during therapy,document pertinent patient information observed, troubleshoot equipmentand intervene as warranted. Assists in the development and revision ofdepartment and protocol implementation policy & procedures, protocolforms, assessment grids, and caremaps as needed in order to maintainunrestricted TJC accreditation, compliance to the State of Illinois andWisconsin, Administrative Codes and other regulatory agencies. Makesclinical rounds to the units to enhance departmental image and lines ofcommunication with other departments. Investigates new patient servicemodalities, equipment and facility needs to continually upgrade servicesoffered by Mercyhealth System. Assists Manager to effectively interview,select and hire staff as needed to maintain budgeted FTE\'s andaccomplish department service/business goals. Assist in the annualpreparation of budget and volume assumptions. Inform manager and medicaldirector of physician/policy issues. Ensure adequate inventory ofsupplies and assist with the ongoing evaluation of equipment andsupplies, submitting appropriate recommendations to manager. Overseesbilling and charting activities to ensure the quality of data. Monitorsequipment availability and staff knowledge of equipment use and repair,to ensure quality patient service. Serves as skills validator to ensurecompetencies of staff. Perform other duties as assigned.
