Job Summary and Qualifications

Under the direct supervision, the clinical student will apply their classroom knowledge in a healthcare setting. The position will provide student rotations, externships and exposure to skills and knowledge necessary in their respective clinical areas of study.

What you will do in this role:

Effectively identifies predictable problems and plans assigned tasks as needed.

Recognizes changes in patient condition and initiates activities to facilitate appropriate responses.

Communicates the patient’s condition and/or change to appropriate staff and/or physician, as needed.

Responds promptly to changes in workload, adjusting assignments as necessary to achieve optimal productivity and efficiency.

Prioritizes and plans all work steps to ensure success; considers time, supplies and support required from other individuals and departments in setting up work plan and completing duties.

Provides pertinent shift report to other members of the team.

Makes appropriate referrals upon admission and throughout hospitalization.

Considers all available options and makes appropriate decisions.

Assists in the containment of hospital costs through appropriate use of supplies, recovery of patient charges, and conservation of supplies.

Assists in the evaluation of patients for appropriate level of care and communicates with others on health care team.

Communicates pertinent information regarding patient’s progress and discharge planning needs to appropriate hospital and medical staff.

Evaluates patient progress in light of the plan of care and coordinates care to achieve desired outcomes.

Maintains harmonious relationship with staff members, providing support and assistance to ensure quality customer service.

Demonstrates attitude of cooperation and professionalism.

Demonstrates flexibility in working hours and days scheduled in order to meet needs of the department.

Seeks and accepts input from Directors/ Supervisors regarding interpersonal relationships that affect the department’s harmony and serviceability.

Follows established procedures for all treatments, performance of procedures, and medication administration.

Assures the patient treatment plan is followed.

What qualifications you will need:

Completion of the first semester of a clinical practicum

Enrolled for credit in the clinical portion of an approved academic program in Respiratory Care

Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
