We steward precious resources by finding more sustainable solutions.Job SummaryOur Construction Management Services team is seeking a Resident Engineer to serve as a project lead/construction manager on various projects in the Greater Seattle/West Washington Area. The Resident Engineer serves as the company and client representative at the work site, responsible for all construction work to ensure that the work performed by the contractor is in accordance with the plans and specifications. This individual is also responsible for managing company and local agency personnel.Responsibilities & QualificationsEnsure the application of project specifications and the execution of plans.Provide written progress, technical and special issues reports as required.Prepare detailed cost estimates for the different activities required for the project.Review daily inspection reports, materials sampling and testing documentation for acceptance.Work with the contractor on coordination of work.Manage project documentation and assure contract compliance with contract requirements.Perform independent analysis of other construction-related submittals and plans.Negotiate, draft and review change orders.Review construction progress schedule and ensure projects are completed on scheduleAbide by and enforce construction safety rules and regulations.Review contractor pay estimates and submittals.Direct field inspection/support staff and train / mentor staff members on project / technical matters.Conduct daily and weekly communication with Agency personnel and other senior staff.Other duties as assigned.QUALIFICATIONS (INCLUDING EDUCATION and/or JOB EXPERIENCE):Bachelor's degree in engineering or closely related field.P.E. license required and significant experience with the concepts and practices with complex infrasture construction engineering projects.Must be experienced in oversight of company and local agency staff and sub consultants and have the ability to effectively and efficiently work with the clients to assist in the resolution of project issues.Must be able to write effective and concise reviews comments, and reports.Must be able to articulately work with Contractors and other team members to effectively resolve field issues.Previous construction management experience for WSDOT projects, or projects that had WSDOT oversight, is a preferred.Client focused, always striving to give clients the best solutions.Strong commitment to innovation by creating new and better ways to solve clients' toughest challenges.High levels of integrity, always doing the right thing in an ethical, fair, and sustainable way.Demonstrated experience of collaboration in a diverse and inclusive team, working together toward technical excellence.May be required to work holidays and/or nights and/or weekends.Additional InformationTYLin is committed to pay equity.
