The Resident Director (RD) position assists with supervising and leading a residence hall community with the goal of fostering a robust living and learning environment. RDs do this through staff and student development, resident outreach, community building, attention to facilities, emergency response, and administrative organization. The Resident Director job at Bethel University is a unique live-on position that requires a purposeful approach to interactions between work and life. Due to the nature of the role, the intent of the position is to have staff members serve in the role for 2-5 years. The Student Life Department is committed to professional development initiatives to best support individual career journeys. Responsibilities Fosters a vibrant community through social events, educational programs, and presence in the residence hall. Connect with students to support and encourage individual holistic growth. Supervises student staff of Resident Assistants (including hiring, job training, and team development). Manages student care in a residence hall (including an on-call rotation, emergency responses, advising students, and administrative follow-up). Performs administrative responsibilities for the residence hall including management of a budget and organization of housing details. Meets regularly with a supervising Associate Dean for Residence Life and other members of the Residence Life team. Participates in committee work as assigned. Required Skills Excellent interpersonal skills. Strong communication and human relation skills. Demonstrated success as a team player. Demonstrated leadership and maturity. Working knowledge of Google Suite and Microsoft. Required Experience Required Experience: 1+ years of working with college-aged students while on a college campus. Preferred Experience: 1+ years of work in residence life, student life or a similar office at a college or university. Required Education Required Education: Bachelor's degree in a related field. Preferred Education: Master's degree in student development, psychology, counseling or a related field. Additional Information This positions is a required live-in position, working 40 hours a week from August 1st to May 31st.
