JOB REQUIREMENTS: Position Description: Research Technologist II PurposeWe are seeking a Research Technologist II to contribute to activeresearch projects in a basic neuroscience lab investigating the role ofcellular and molecular mechanisms in supporting neural cell function,learning and memory, and substance use disorders. The laboratory uses avariety of technical approaches to investigate these broad areas ofresearch, including single-nucleus profiling, CRISPR-based epigeneticediting, cell culture models and various behavioral assays. Theindividual in this position will receive general direction and guidancefor carrying out experimental design of sponsored research projects,including compilation of data and analysis. The individual should beable to operate with a high degree of independence after a trainingperiod, as well as communicate effectively with team members andparticipate in a team-oriented environment. Primary Functions * Carryout routine and complex experiments using laboratory protocols *Monitor inventory and order lab supplies; carry out assigned duties forordering, maintaining supply of inventory * Prepare media and maintaincells by various culturing in techniques * Participate in meetings withprincipal investigator and research staff and evaluate/interpret thevalidity of data as needed * Oversee daily lab operation in the absenceof the supervisor or Principle Investigator * Assist in thedevelopment, implementation, and maintenance of new research protocols* Record and compile accurate records and communicate summaries ofexperimental results * Help evaluate, interpret, and assessexperimental data and quality control of assays * Operate, calibrateand perform routine maintenance on specialized equipment used inresearch * Work with others in the laboratory to collect, summarize,perform statistical analyses and graph data Knowledge - Skills -Abilities This position requires basic knowledge of biology, chemistry,mathematics, documentation, and records management. A background inneurobiology or cellular and molecular biology is preferred. Candidateswith experience in cell culture and/or running rodent behavioralexperiments are encouraged to apply.
