Position Summary
Duties and Responsibilities
Maintains multiple cell strains, including culturing for experiments, freezing, and distributing to collaborators
Planning and executing cell VDJ recombination assays, including initial transfections, selections, flow cytometry, and data analyses
Flow cytometry experience with both LSRII and ATTune bench top analyzers
DNA plasmid preparation and analysis
Cellular DNA damage sensitivity assays using standard colony forming assay as well as viability staining assays
Planning and executing CRISPR experiments, both to ablate specific gene functions and alter gene function via homology directed repair
CRISPR screening strategies including genomic DNA preparation and PCR analysis as well as protein extract preparation followed by immunoblot analyses
Maintain detailed laboratory procedure and experimental records
Supervise undergraduate workers
Maintaining laboratory supplies by ordering and stocking reagents and supplies
Unit Specific Education/Experience/Skills
Knowledge equivalent to that which normally would be acquired by completing a four-year college degree program in the specific field of research employment or other related field; up to six months of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in basic research techniques in the specific or related field; word processing, spreadsheet; database and/or desktop publishing software; presentation software; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. The job may require the appropriate pesticide applicator's registration/certification and/or experience working with potentially dangerous research animals.
