  JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

  The Urban Lab in the Department of Entomology at Penn State (https://psu.edu) seeks a highly motivated Research Technologist to assist with lab-based studies focused on the feeding behavior of an invasive insect. The candidate will also assist with field experiments and insect collection work being done at various field locations in Pennsylvania. Duties will include insect photo-documentation, measurement, dissection and corresponding data collection and data management. The candidate will assist with insect colony maintenance, plant maintenance, and ensuring secure conditions of quarantine areas. The candidate will also perform standard laboratory management duties (maintaining lab chemical inventory and safety documentation, chemical disposal, lab supplies inventory). Candidate must have strong experience with and knowledge of insects, preferably with spotted lanternfly. A drivers license is required for this position.

  This is a fixed term appointment funded for one year from date of hire with good possibility of refunding. This position offers a flexible work arrangement that combines remote and on-campus work.   Education and Experience:

  This position typically requires a Bachelor's d egree or higher plus 1 year of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience .
