  Job Description:

  About the lab:

Ourresearch (https://www.binghamton.edu/psychology/people/profile.html?id=bgibb) focuses on factors that contribute to the development and maintenance of depression across the lifespan. Much of this research focuses on how information-processing biases (biases in attention, interpretation, and memory) develop and how these biases then increase risk for depression, either on their own, or when interacting with other risk factors. Our work incorporates experimental and developmental psychopathology approaches to examine a number of potential influences including genetic, molecular, neural, physiological, behavioral, environmental, and developmental factors. Much of our research seeks to integrate markers of risk across multiple units of analysis. Consistent with the NIMH Research Domain Criteria (RDoC) initiative, we also seek to examine core processes that, although relevant for depression, may be more homogeneous and/or cut across current diagnostic boundaries (e.g., anhedonia and reward processing). Our overall goal is to develop a more fine-grained understanding of risk for depression and related outcomes such as suicide and non-suicidal self-injury so that more targeted prevention and intervention efforts can be developed.

  Position Duties:

This is a full-time grant-funded project coordinator position to assist with an NIMH-funded project examining mechanisms of risk for the intergenerational transmission of depression, with a focus on the role of attentional biases during the transition from childhood to adolescence (incorporating computer-based and mobile eye tracking as well as steady state visual evoked potentials).

  Duties will include:

  Coordinating participant recruitment

  Preparation of study materials

  Participant assessments

  Database management

  Strong interpersonal skills

  Strong organizational skills

Job will require moderate amount of independent judgement

  Requirements:

BA/BS in Psychology or other scientific field

  Demonstrate a conscientious work style

  Strong interpersonal skills

Prior experience working as a research assistant in a research-based Psychology, Neuroscience, or related lab

  PREFERRED

Experience working with children, adolescents, and/or adults with depression, including experience with diagnostic interviewing

Experience conducting research with eye tracking, EEG/ERP, and/or psychophysiological assessments

  Experience with MATLAB or R

  Additional Information:

  Salary: $33,800 annually.
