BSD BMB - Concepcion Lab
About the Department
The Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology studies howbiomolecules function and interact to drive the complex, diverse, andadaptive behaviors of living systems. Our focus is on biologicalmechanisms described at the atomic level. We are highly collaboratoryand often employ multiple approaches to address otherwise intractablequestions. We have particular strengths in membrane proteins and RNAbiochemistry and are pioneers in all areas of biophysics, structuralbiology, biochemistry, and protein engineering and design. Pleaseexplore our programs further at https://biochem.uchicago.edu/.
The Concepcion Lab, located within the Department of Biochemistry &Molecular Biology (BMB), investigates ion channels and transportersregulating immune cell signaling and function to make fundamental andtranslational advances in immunotherapy. Our model systems includeprimary murine immune cells, human cell lines, and transgenic mouselines to investigate how these membrane proteins regulate the immuneresponse in health and disease. This at-will position is wholly orpartially funded by contractual grant funding which is renewed underprovisions set by the grantor of the contract. Employment will becontingent upon the continued receipt of these grant funds andsatisfactory job performance.
Job Summary
The Research Technician is expected to work independently in differentscientific research projects, ensures compliance of research activitieswith institutional, state, and federal regulatory policies, procedures, directives, and mandates.
This role will support projects that test the role of novel ion channelsand transporters identified in various genetic screens and study theimmune responses by innate and adaptive immune cells. Experiments willutilize a suite of cellular and molecular biology techniques, murinemodels of infection, autoimmunity, and cancer. The candidate will havethe opportunity to work with advanced lab and analytic methods and besupported in career development.
If you are independent, have a drive to succeed, are genuinely excitedabout the research and can work positively as part of the lab team, thenthis opportunity may be for you.
