A Brief OverviewThis entry-level research technical role supports clinical and pre-clinical research that advances translation of novel diffuse optical spectroscopy and imaging technologies for clinical use. The role entails working with multiple members in our Clinical and Biomedical Optics Lab on a variety of research projects as need arises. The lab is directed by Dr. Wesley Baker. Our translational research is at the frontier of improving patient outcomes through non-invasive cerebral diagnostics for individualized care. For this end, we build new cerebral neuromonitoring devices, and use them to collect large volumes of continuous multimodal data in critically ill children at CHOP and in piglet models of disease. We aim to identify new prognostic markers of brain injury from our measurements, which will provide clinicians with improved ability to target specific goals in the management of patients.

Research technicians have a vital role in supporting our lab's data acquisition and study logistics needs for both clinical and piglet studies. This job further provides excellent research experience for those considering the pursuit of medical school or graduate school.
