Posting Summary
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Research Teaching Specialist II for the Cancer Institute of New Jersey. The main objectives of the Research Teaching Specialist II position will be designing, performing and interpreting computational analyses of large genomic data sets, designing validation experiments, as well as training and supervising students, postdoctoral fellows and other trainees in these analyses. Will involve designing, executing and interpreting computational analyses, developing pipelines for analysis of both DNA and RNA sequencing data, both bulk and single cells, as well performing experiments in molecular and cell biology under the supervision of the principal investigator. This will require experience in computational analysis of large cancer genomic data sets, experience in variant calling, developing pipelines for sequencing data analysis, interpretation of primary genomic sequencing data, expertise in statistics and some programming, as well an understanding of cancer biology and cancer immunology.Among the key duties of the position are the following:
  • Conducts computational experiments and analyses to understand molecular pathogenesis and immune microenvironment of cancers.
  • Develops and executes novel methods of analysis of primary DNA and RNA sequencing data
  • Designs and helps execute validation experiments using current methods in molecular and cell biology.
  • Gives oral presentations of this research.
  • Instrumental in writing and publishing scientific research papers.

  Qualifications

  

Minimum Education and Experience
  • Master's Degree in Biology, Chemistry, or relevant science plus two (2) years of related research experience, or a Bachelor's degree in a relevant science plus three (3) years of related research experience.
Certifications/Licenses
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Effective oral and communication skills.
  • Must be computer literate with proficiency and working knowledge of database and reporting tools such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working with computational analysis of large cancer genomic data sets preferred.
