This position will assist on-going research studies to inform strategies to reduce burden of hepatitis C (HCV) infection among persons who inject drugs (PWID), which are supported by the New York State Department of Health (NYSDOH). In particular, the staff will serve as a junior research project coordinator who will work closely work with two senior project coordinators for both a multi-site annual surveillance study to estimate the burden of HCV infection among PWID in NYS, and a formative evaluation of three innovative HCV care models aiming to promote HCV treatment uptake among PWID. Study support duties include providing technical support to partners from community-based organization on survey and data collection procedures, preparing and managing study incentives and study materials, and completing internal administrative tasks, including data quality checks.
Primary Responsibilities:
Assist the Lead Coordinator with providing technical support and resources to the partners participating in the research projects.
Serve as a point of contact for the study for the innovative models of HCV care for PWID study, responding to inquiries from our partners (project sites, NYS DOH).
Prepare and deliver/ship study materials, including data collection forms and training documents.
Maintain and manage the student lab space in the George Education Center.
Manage study incentives, including purchasing for projects sites and ensuring adequate supply.
Conduct interviews with study participants by phone and/or in-person.
Assist with conducting trainings on study procedures with staff at research sites (syringe exchange/harm reduction programs), including training on methods for enrolling study participants, explaining the consent process, facilitating study activities with participants, and providing guidance on how to distribute study incentives.
Job Requirements:
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree from a college or university accredited by a US Department of Education or internationally recognized accrediting organization.
Professional communication experience (e.g., experience in customer service and/or public speaking, presentations).
Strong organizational skills.
Ability to collaboratively work with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
Ability to work independently and take initiative.
Experience with Microsoft Office (particularly Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
Interest in infectious disease (e.g., hepatitis C, HIV) and/or drug user health and health disparities.
Experience using platforms such as Cisco WebEx or Zoom.

Preferred Qualifications:
Prior experience conducting human subjects research, prior experience working with vulnerable populations, especially those who use drugs.
Prior experiences with conducting program evaluation and qualitative research.
