Because the University of Minnesota is a land-grant institution that serves the state, residing in Minnesota is typically required. Job Summary: This position is responsible for overseeing research operations in the department of Family Medicine and Community Health's Family Medicine Residency Programs. The incumbent will manage and provide guidance to a team of research professionals who support clinical and research division faculty, residents, and medical students. Research projects vary and include clinical research, behavioral health research, quality improvement, and community projects that have a variety of funding sources. The incumbent will work with the Senior Administrative Research Manager to develop training, standard operating procedures, and work practices to support research. In addition, this position will serve as a member of committees as needed in order to keep the department in alignment with Medical School policies and initiatives. Main Responsibilities include: Directly supervise and manage a team of Research Facilitators. Meet regularly as a team and individually to review projects and timelines, provide mentorship, set expectations, and establish goals. Oversee research and scholarship activities across the residency clinics and programs. This includes 7 residency programs and 5 fellowship programs. Partner with clinic and program leadership and faculty to grow their research, encourage collaborations, and provide needed resources. Provide leadership and identification of support to Research Division faculty during the lifecycle of a study, including grant submission, start-up, implementation, and closeout. Provide guidance with navigating challenging and complex research environments (Medical school requirements, regulatory compliance, sIRB). Partner with internal and external offices and committees as appropriate to facilitate change and to make recommendations for improving clinical research compliance and processes. Develop, implement, and guide activities related to process integration and improvement, apply best practices and strategic direction for the research services hub. Collaborate with the Practice-based Research Manager to support and implement the Practice-based Research Network across the academic footprint. Assist with developing and managing a practiced-based research patient advisory group, including developing charters, recruiting members, creating meeting agendas, ensuring feedback loop on action items from prior meetings, making accommodations for members to attend meetings, and other duties as assigned. Qualifications All required qualifications must be documented on application materials. Required Qualifications: BA/BS in a related field with at least six (6) years of clinical or community-based research experience or an advanced degree plus at least four (4) years of experience. Strong knowledge of Good Clinical Practices and Code of Federal Regulations. Increasing levels of independence and responsibility in previous position(s). Excellent organization, communication, and demonstrated leadership skills. Previous supervision or management experience of research staff/team members. Demonstrated ability to manage and lead research teams and projects. Preferred Qualifications: Master's degree in a relevant field. Experience working in a Family Medicine or Community Health setting. Experience working with diverse populations. Experience recruiting, building, and retaining research teams/team members. Experience with University systems including RedCap, OnCore, and ETHOS. Experience managing a patient or community advisory board.
