Job Description:
JOB SUMMARY
The Research Specialist is responsible for carrying out activities and completing tasks as assigned by the investigators and Administrator/Manager. Many of these assignments will have an emphasis on quantitative and qualitative data collection, analysis, scientific writing for peer-reviewed journals, and dissemination of research results.
This position will primarily work with Bryan Weichelt, PhD, to support research activities for the National Children’s Center for Rural and Agricultural Health and Safety within the National Farm Medicine Center, of the Marshfield Clinic Research Institute. Additional work may include projects related to AgInjuryNews.org, Wisconsin Farm Fatality Reports, applied AI/Chat GPT applications in health and injury prevention, and rural military Veterans health and quality of life studies.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION
For positions requiring education beyond a high school diploma or equivalent, educational qualifications must be from an institution whose accreditation is recognized by the Council for Higher Education and Accreditation.
Minimum Required: Master’s degree in scientific field relevant to the area of hire.
Preferred/Optional: Epidemiology, Public Health, Informatics, Agricultural Safety and Health, or related field.
EXPERIENCE
Minimum Required: One year of experience in a research setting. Demonstrated proficiency with standard office equipment and the Microsoft Office Suite. Demonstrated proficiency with written, verbal and non-verbal communication skills. This may include work experience during a training program.
Preferred/Optional: A basic understanding of research activities and demonstrated ability to support research projects is preferred. Advanced quantitative and/or qualitative data analysis and scientific writing experience, evidenced by peer-reviewed publications is preferred.
