| Posting Summary | Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Research Scientist II within the Rutgers Regional Biocontainment Laboratory (RBL). The Research Scientist II plays a key role in establishing a biocontainment research support service core devoted to developing animal models of BSL3 pathogens and associated support services to aid investigators in the performance of animal models. The position assists RBL investigators in designing, testing, and evaluating protocols for developing the animal models. This role is also responsible for direct day-to-day operations of the core, maintaining oversight of standard operating procedures of the core, and training and supervision of staff. The Research Scientist II plays a critical role in ensuring the success of the biocontainment research support service core at the Rutgers RBL.Among the key duties of this position are the following:

| Physical Demands and Work Environment | PHYSICAL DEMAND This position involves prolonged standing, walking and sitting, as well as use of laboratory equipment. Must perform complex procedures and demonstrate manual dexterity. Some stooping, reaching, climbing and bending. Hearing and speech capabilities necessary to communicate with other researchers and staff in person, on the telephone and by e-mail. Vision capable of viewing gauges, computer monitors, charts, forms, text and numbers for prolonged periods. WORK ENVIRONMENT Laboratory environment. Must be available to work flexible hours including weekends and holidays when necessary to meet deadlines. Must be willing to work with small and large animals. |
