Duties include maintaining existing trials, initiating new trials, coordinating the enrollment of eligible patients, extracting and reporting quality patient data and tissue samples. This position reports to the Research Manager, but is also accountable to the program leaders, the physician-investigators and members of the clinical research team. This position can support a hybrid work schedule, with having the majority of days being in office due to patient schedules. This position is based on the University of Minnesota's East Bank campus in Minneapolis. Clinical Research Coordination (60%) Be primary contact and information resource to University faculty and staff for protocol specific queries, including available trials, enrollment requirements, specimens needed, etc. Engage with investigators and ensure research procedures comply with regulations, policies, and best practices Screen and recruit potential research subjects Support recruitment effects and inform new strategies for recruitment Perform non-invasive protocol procedures Collect, ship, and process biological specimens Create and maintain source documentation Ensure timely and accurate data submission; engage with providers and investigators to ensure adequate source documentation is available; accurate interpretation and recording of data; maintenance of subject research charts Facilitate timely review and reporting of adverse reactions and severe adverse events Ensure compliance with policies and procedures for scheduling visits, registering subjects, and linking services to research Anticipate potential problems and share with leadership Contribute to the production of research publications or presentation of research data Research Data and Specimen Management (35%) Act as information resources to University faculty and staff for protocol specific queries, including availability of trials, enrollment requirements, specimens needed, etc. Facilitate effective specimen management, including preparing kits, processing specimens, preparing shipments, tracking inventory, etc. Assist in preparing for and participate in site initiation visits, monitoring visits, program audits, etc. Work with project manager to develop budgets and start up procedures Assist in data management for an international study taking place in Uganda Administration & Education (5%) Facilitate new project development Support quality improvement initiatives; monitor trends and offer suggestions for improvements Attend national and study meetings as appropriate Participate in CRC continuing education and provide development opportunities Educate University faculty and staff of our obligations in relation to our clinical research activities Communication with clinical teams to foster an environment of qualify research participation within the context of exceptional clinical care Qualifications All required qualifications must be included in the application materials Required Qualifications: BS/BA and 4 years' experience in research setting or an advanced degree and 2 years' experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience to total eight years Preferred Qualifications: Strong critical thinking skills Ability to work independently and with the multidisciplinary team as needed; make decisions, problem solve and prioritize the simultaneous management of multiple clinical studies Ability to follow strict protocols with utmost ethical standards Computer proficiency and ability to navigate multiple software applications Detail-oriented with exceptional organizational, planning and problem solving skills Ability to work flexible work hours, includi g occasional evenings and weekends Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal skills Ability to travel locally and regionally as needed for events and site visits During a typical 8 hour shift, a person in this position may be required to stand up to 2.5 hours, walk up to 2.5 hours (including stairs), reach above shoulders, lift up to 10 pounds above shoulder, and carry packages across campus at waist level Experience with EPIC or other electronic medical record system Knowledge of Type 1 Diabetes Certified Clinical Research Coordinator Experience coordinating clinical trials in a University Setting About the Department The Pediatric Diabetes Research team is a growing and dynamic research group that looks at prevention, new-onset and new treatments for managing type 1 diabetes in a pediatric and adult population.
