Position Summary
The Department of Food Science and Human Nutrition seeks a Research Associate (Postdoctoral Researcher) to work in Dr. Leslie Bourquin’s research program. The primary responsibilities for this position are to coordinate and conduct research on the effect of polyphenolic compounds and structural carbohydrate fractions isolated from plant products on potential physiological and health outcomes including gastrointestinal epithelial cell proliferation, gut microbiome composition, and cancer risk. The successful candidate will be expected to manage projects, assist trainees with their research, develop reports, and contribute to writing of manuscripts and research proposals.

Required Degree
Doctorate -Food Science, Human Nutrition or related
Minimum Requirements
A doctoral degree in food science, human nutrition, or a related discipline.
Demonstrated skills in culture of human intestinal cell lines, conducting proximate and food chemistry analysis of plant products, and statistical analyses.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work collaboratively with diverse groups.
Ability to manage and oversee the work of several graduate and undergraduate students.
Desired Qualifications
Experience in writing research proposals and in authoring scientific publications.
Experience in conducting chemical characterization of plant components by high-performance liquid chromatography, and in conducting microbial fermentation studies.
Ability to work independently.
Good organizational skills.
