Altasciences is seeking Research Associates at all levels of experience that have a passion for scientific research. In this position your focus will be working directly with larger animals in the collection of data and in support of the development of human medicine. You will perform technical procedures to support advancements in pharmaceutical development. In this position you will learn and perfect complex procedures including learning the skills to operate laboratory equipment, specimens collection techniques and data acquisition. At Altasciences Preclinical Services, we work with many different large animal models: non-human primates, swine and canine and you will have the opportunity to become a proficient, highly skilled expert in this field. Multiple shifts available.What You'll Do HereConducting sample and data collection on research studiesPerform standard operating procedures and execute Protocol driven activities on laboratory animals. For example; clinical observations, food consumptions, body weights, urine collection, administering anesthesia, mating procedures, blood draws, dose administration catheter placement, enrichment, feedingResponsible for recording, entering and reviewing raw dataPrepares for procedures by setting up and maintaining ancillaries on study animalsOperating specialized laboratory equipment such as; Glucometer, Harvard pump, Digital Thermometer, infusion pumps, telemetry devices etcMonitor and report changes and concerns in animal behavior or health, and problems with animal rooms (e.g., caging, lights, and temperature) to all appropriate personnelMonitor and report all study changes to the Study Supervisor and Study DirectorAll work must be performed at the highest quality and with the highest regard for animal welfareWhat You'll Need to SucceedBS/BA in a scientific discipline preferred. Must have high School Diploma and/or GED required1 to 2 years experience working with small animals, in research, or in a regulated environmentALAT or LAT Certification preferredAbility to perform high quality work with strong attention to detailExcellent verbal and written communication skillsAbility to problem solve and know when to ask questionsAbility to work collaboratively with all levels of employeesAbility to multi-task and maintain organization in a fast paced, changing environmentPositive attitude toward work and strong team playerBe a part of a team that likes to work hard and have funAbility to lift up to 30-50 pounds requiredWhat We OfferThe pay range estimated for this position is $21.75-$30.43 (per hour rates or annually).
