The Department of Biological Sciences within the Mellon College of Science is seeking a full-time Research Associate II to work in the laboratory of Dr. Henninger. The Henninger lab works at the forefront of RNA biology and biomolecular condensates to understand how RNA regulates gene expression in normal and oncogenic settings.Your responsibilities will include:Assisting with mammalian tissue culture, including generating and maintaining cell lines, preparing cell media, and conducting assays.Assist lab members with various experiments in cell biology and biochemistry, including but not limited to reconstituted in vitro assays, extraction and quantification of RNA, microscopy, and molecular cloning.Optimize protocols and improve methods currently employed.Analyze experimental results and present them in a professional and clear manner.Ordering and organizing lab supplies.Maintaining an organized laboratory notebook that details experimental procedures and results.Prepare stocks and aliquots of common buffers and reagents and organize additional reagents as they are ordered or generated.Obtain experience in and practice scientific presentations, project outlining, figure generation, and manuscript writing.Compliance with chemical and laboratory safety regulations. You should demonstrate:Proficiency in basic molecular biology lab techniques (pipetting, gels, molecular cloning).Prior experience with tissue culture is preferred.Excellent written and oral communication skills.
