The Ray and Stephanie Lane Computational Biology Department (CBD) within the School of Computer Science is searching for a highly skilled and motivated Research Assistant with expertise in cryo-electron tomography (cryo-ET) data analysis to join the research team. This role is pivotal in advancing our understanding of cellular and molecular structures through cutting-edge cryo-ET techniques.
Your core responsibilities will include:Cryo-ET Data Processing: Execute advanced cryo-ET data processing using state-of-the-art software tools, including IMOD, Relion, or other relevant software, to align and reconstruct tomograms from raw data.Algorithm Design: Develop and implement novel algorithms and computational techniques to enhance the accuracy and efficiency of cryo-ET data processing, subtomogram averaging, and structural interpretation.Particle Picking and Segmentation: Expertly identify and segment macromolecular structures and cellular components within cryo-ET volumes, ensuring accurate and comprehensive annotations.Structural Interpretation: Analyze and interpret cryo-ET reconstructions to derive meaningful insights into the organization and function of cellular structures and macromolecules.Collaborative Research: Collaborate with fellow researchers and teams to integrate cryo-ET data into broader research projects, facilitating interdisciplinary exchange and contributing to the collective scientific goals.
