Overview:
The Global Distribution & International TV Research Department is responsible for supporting NBCU’s content licensing (Global TV Distribution) and international streaming businesses, with audience based quantitative and qualitative research in the U.S. and all international territories, for all television platforms.
Role Profile:
This position focuses on providing research support to NBCU’s sales and distribution teams in the U.S. and Canada. The Analyst will be responsible for compiling, organizing, visualizing, analyzing, and presenting cross-platform viewing data for use in various research projects including standard landscape and performance reports, ad hoc client requests, and long-term strategy evaluations. This position reports to the Senior Research Director in New York.
Key Responsibilities:
Create and maintain detailed and accurate historical databases of first-party client data
Produce regular reports and updates (daily/weekly/monthly/quarterly) monitoring NBCU and competitive content performance across linear TV channels and streaming platforms
Respond to ad hoc internal client requests with data-backed insight and recommendations
Create external client-facing sales materials highlighting the strength of NBCU content performance
Master multiple ratings/streaming measurement software products and regularly participate in trainings to maintain expertise on new functionality and methodology
Perform other duties as requested by management

Basic Qualifications
Media research internship or analyst experience (linear TV and/or streaming)
Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
Skills in advanced analytical applications, i.e., PowerBI and Tableau

Desired Characteristics
Prior research experience with a distribution company/studio, broadcast or cable network, ad agency, international distributor, streaming platform, or research firm strongly preferred
Knowledge and understanding of the U.S. and/or Canadian media landscape and industry relevant to broadcast, cable, and digital platforms
Knowledge of NBCUniversal (and competitive) film and television catalogs
Competence with Nielsen National TV Toolbox (NPower), NNTV, InstarTV, and/or ITVR preferred
Experience working with metadata a plus
Experience cleaning and streamlining inconsistent datasets a plus
Possesses excellent writing and math skills, and the ability to communicate project results in a clear and concise manner
Possesses excellent problem solving and investigative skills to answer questions and supplement analyses when only limited data and information are readily available
Detail-oriented with the ability to handle multiple priorities and deadlines
Independent thinker who can take on a project from beginning to end with minimal supervision
Willingness to work extended hours when needed
French speaking skills a plus
This position has been designated as hybrid, generally contributing from the office a minimum of three days per week.
