Description - ExternalResponsible for the accurate and timely registration of patients into the hospital’s inpatient, outpatient, emergency department areas with a professional and courteous manner. High intense area that requires Customer Service Training with continuing education throughout the year.
Observes professional ethics in maintaining confidential information concerning the financial, personal, medical or employment status of patients/families at JPMC.Must follow and enforce accepted safety practices for patients and hospital.Must report safety hazards and initiate appropriate action.Must participate in safety instructional programs.Performs registration of patients by:
Obtaining personal information
Informing patients of billing proceduresObtaining insurance information and approval of bill.Obtaining consents for treatmentInforming patients on their RightsObtaining advance directive information and copies for record when available.Verifying of insurance information
Must perform switchboard duties at night.
Monitors emergency alarm system.Maintains patient privacy during the registration process.Must display a professional, friendly, and courteous manner at all times.Report any unusual incidents/patient concerns to supervisor timely.Must complete mandatory customer service training upon hire.Mandatory customer service training will be required 4 times a year.Must comply with mandatory Customer Service guidelines as outlined in evaluation.Performs other duties as assigned.Qualifications - External1-3 years previous experience in hospital setting preferred. High school Diploma or GED required. Basic skills required include; organizational, customer relations, math, grammar/spelling, typing, computer training, the ability to follow written and oral direction, and the ability to read write speak, and understand English.
