  Position Summary : The Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for managing the individualized patient care by promoting and restoring patients' health through the nursing process; collaborating with physicians and multidisciplinary team members; providing physical and psychological support to patients, friends, and families; and supervising assigned team members. The Registered Nurse is responsible for the provision of nursing care based on AWOHNN and NRP standards of care and professional nursing practice; accountable for the outcomes of nursing care delivered.

  The Registered Nurse (RN) - Labor & Delivery is also responsible for circulating with c-sections, recovering patients post c-section, and pre-oping c-section patients.

  QUALIFICATIONS

  Experience :

  -Minimum two (2) years of acute nursing experience.

  Education :

  -Associates Degree in Nursing (ADN) required. Degree received from an education institution accredited by National League of Nursing Accrediting Commission (NLNAC) or Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE).

  -Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) preferred.

  Licenses/Certifications :

  -Current and in good standing RN Licensure with South Carolina Board of Nursing.

  -Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification required. If not certified, must obtain Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification within 30 days of employment.

  -American Heart Association Healthcare provider course with Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required to be initially completed with the Tidelands Health Organizational Development Office within 30 calendar days of hire date (exceptions to obtain certification from a provider other than the TH Organizational Development Office are approved by TH Organizational Development on a case by case basis). BLS Recertification is required every two (2) years.

  -ACLS preferred.

  Other :

  -Works with patients, families, physicians, and other health care providers.

  -May be exposed to infectious specimens, diseases and soiled laundry.

  Physical Requirements : Medium Physical Agility Test (PAT) Rating

  While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently (activity or condition exists from 1/3 to 2/3 of the time) required to stand, sit, and walk; occasionally (activity or condition exists up to 1/3 of the time) to use hands, fingers; and frequently to talk or hear. The employee must exert 20 to 35 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 15 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

  The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
