　　Schedule: 3 shifts per week 11am -11pm, rotating every other Saturday

　　Hospital: Ascension ST Vincent's Birmingham - Downtown

　　Location: Birmingham, Alabama

　　4 West, Post-Surgical unit is a 32 bed unit that cares for patients undergoing general surgery procedures with a 4:5 ratio. These procedures vary from thoracotomy, colon surgery, mastectomy, genitourinary surgery, plastic/reconstruction surgery, bariatric surgery. This is a fast paced unit with many opportunities for developing and refining nursing skills such as IV insertion, Foley catheter insertion, patient teaching and critical assessment skills. Leadership experience strongly preferred.

　　Responsibilities

　　Provide direct nursing care in accordance with established policies, procedures and protocols of the healthcare organization.

　　Implement and monitor patient care plans. Monitor, record and communicate patient condition as appropriate.

　　Serve as a primary coordinator of all disciplines for well-coordinated patient care.

　　Note and carry out physician and nursing orders.

　　Assess and coordinate patient's discharge planning needs with members of the healthcare team.

　　Requirements

　　Licensure / Certification / Registration:

　　BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.

　　Licensed Associate Professional Registered Nurse credentialed from the Alabama Board of Nursing obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required.

　　Education:

　　Diploma from an accredited school/college of nursing OR Required professional licensure at time of hire.Additional Preferences
