The Cedars-Sinai Medical Group’s Hand, Upper Extremity, and Plastic Reconstructive Surgery Department is a large and complex practice providing outstanding care to patients. Our dedicated team comprises seven surgeons, two physician assistants, and 31 employees who see 16,000 patients in the clinic and perform 1,700 surgeries annually. The ideal candidate must have experience and a passion for working in a fast-paced environment and supporting a diverse and growing Team.
A Clinical Nurse II (CN II) is a proficient clinician who provides nursing care in a skilled and effective manner in an ambulatory setting. A CNII Independently prioritizes & delivers dependable and effective patient care in a variety of patient situations using decision-making skills. A CNII exhibits competence in the technical, interpersonal and cognitive skills required to independently and safely manage routine patient assignment. Nursing care is delivered using standards of care by following approved policies and procedures.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Assessing and monitoring wounds
Cleaning and bandaging wounds
Working collaboratively with other patient care team members to determine if additional treatments or changes in care are required.
Educating patients and caretakers on wound care, infection, and injury prevention for the following types of wounds.
Penetrating wounds, Puncture wounds, Surgical wounds, and incisions. Thermal, chemical, or electric burns. Bites and stings. Gunshot wounds or other high-velocity projectiles that can penetrate the body, Blunt force trauma. Abrasions, Lacerations. Skin tears.
Plans and implements individualized patient care based on observations. Participates in Continuous Quality appropriate reporting, referrals and care in accordance with standardized procedures
Demonstrates refined assessment skills, integrating appropriate data sources to assess the signs, symptoms, reactions, behaviors, or general appearance to determine normal versus abnormal characteristics.
Provides direct and indirect care services, including, but not limited to, the administration of medications and therapeutic agents necessary to implement treatment, disease prevention, or rehabilitative plan of care.
Observes signs and symptoms of illness, reactions to medications/treatments, general behavior, and/or general physical condition.
Prioritizes identified patient care problems within assigned patients and assumes responsibility for problem resolution, utilizing all resources as appropriate
Plans patient care and education based on disease process, anticipated patient outcomes, complications of treatment, and psycho-social needs in collaboration with other healthcare team members
Participates in evidence-based improvement initiatives and/or councils/committees that improve nursing outcomes and the work environment in their unit/department.
Qualifications
Education:
Assoc. Degree/College Diploma Nursing required
Bachelor's Degree Science in Nursing (state-accredited program) preferred
License/Certification:
RN State License California State RN License required
Basic Life Support (BLS) Require BCLS certification required
Experience:
One (1) year relevant ambulatory or acute care experience in the area of specialty preferred
One (1) year Cardiology Dept - Cardiac nursing (inpatient or outpatient setting) preferred
