Founded in 1938, Wilcox Medical Center is a not-for-profit medical center dedicated to providing the Kaua‘i community with accessible quality health care. The largest medical center on Kaua‘i, it is a state-of-the-art acute care facility with a full suite of services offering 30 specialties and programs, including cardiology, emergency, family practice, gastroenterology, health management, internal medicine, neurology, OB-GYN, oncology, orthopedics, pediatrics and urology. Its 18-bed emergency department serves as the island’s Primary Stroke Center. The medical center also has four birthing suites, seven intensive care beds and 20 same-day surgery beds. Wilcox is the first American College of Surgeons-verified Level III Trauma Center in the state of Hawai‘i. The Infusion Center at Wilcox Memorial Hospital offers full-service outpatient infusion care in a five-star setting of elegance and tranquility. We strive to make each visit as comfortable as possible for patients and their loved ones. Our 10-station, state-of-the-art facility provides a relaxed, home-like setting where patients can choose communal or private seating, including customized reclining chairs equipped with massage and heating units. Services include chemotherapy infusions, administration of antibiotics, IVIG infusions, Blood Transfusions and minor procedures such as ESI or phlebotomy.
As a Registered Nurse in the Infusion Therapy department, you will have the opportunity to support physician staff by delivering quality nursing care to patients through assessing patient objectives and subjective data before initiating a treatment plan and defining expected outcomes. You will be checking and administering IV treatment following specified protocols (chemotherapy, blood transfusion, etc.); monitoring immediate and/or delayed reactions while referring to appropriate documentation and nursing care plans; and coordinating care planning with other disciplines. Minimum Qualifications: Current Hawai‘i Registered Nurse License. Current American Heart Association Health Care Provider Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) CPR cards. Specialized training and/or equivalent experience in IV therapy.
Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in nursing or related field. Oncology Certified Nurse Exam (OCN) or Infusion Nurse Certificate (INC). One (1) year nursing experience in chemotherapy, biotherapy, and phlebotomy.
