Licensed as a registered nurse in the state of Ohio.Gastroenterology/ Endoscopy experience preferredEssential Duties and Responsibilities:Basic computer skills (including but not limited to Outlook, Microsoft Word, Excel & email)Works cooperatively and effectively with others in a professional mannerPossesses excellent communication skillsAbility to work well under stress/pressureCapable of working in a well-organized, meticulous manner that is mindful of time and cost-effectivenessAdapts effectively to changes in patient assignments & schedulesProvides high quality patient care that reflects sound professional judgment, clinical knowledge, and skill according to the:Ohio Nurse Practice ActPolicies and Procedures of the facilityStandard of Care established by the Society of Gastroenterology Nurses and Associates (SGNA)Plan of care established for patientAge appropriateness of client servedCompletes nursing assessment upon admission and throughout patient stay and incorporates the following:Thorough admission interview with patient and/or familyUtilization of keen observational physical assessment skillsIdentifies and prioritizes patients' primary needsUtilizes appropriate noninvasive monitoring equipment when necessary to enhance assessmentIncludes the patient and family assessment of the level of understanding of the planned procedureConcurs with physician and reports significant assessment dataImplements teaching strategies that maximize efficiency in:Patient preparation for the planned procedure.The reduction of patient anxietyThe compliance with discharge instructionsThe transition to dischargeCoordinates care to include the family or significant other when appropriate and acts as liaison between patient and family throughout stay.Confirms and implements physician's ordersUtilizes effective verbal and written communication skills:Verbally communicates with patients, families, staff and physicians in a manner that reflects respect and professionalism.Documents legibly and concisely assessment data, nursing actions, and evaluations (patient outcomes), and all care rendered according to the nursing plan of care on the appropriate documents on the patient recordDocuments appropriately the participation in the functions of the unit.Maintains continuity of care by:Reporting to the appropriate registered nurse in the event that the patient care assignment changes and/or the patient is transferred to another facility.Completing the appropriate documentation when the patient is transferred to another facility;Providing discharge instructions that include patient's follow-up care appointmentsCompleting thorough patient assessments &Working with physicians & patients to coordinate referralsSeeks
