  CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:

  New employees of the Department of Military Affairs will be required to pass a pre-employment drug screening.

  New employees of the Department of Military Affairs are required to participate in a direct deposit/electronic transfer program.

  The Department of Military Affairs is paid on a monthly basis.

  This position is a Cooperative Agreement position.

  As a CANDIDATE, you are required to provide documentation (i.e., High School Diploma or Equivalency, College Transcripts, ETC.) to verify meeting these Minimum Qualifications.

  NOTE

  To be considered for this position, application must be fully completed, your responses to qualifying questions for this position must be verifiable by documentation provided through the electronic application process and clearly stated within the employment history.

  MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  A high school diploma or equivalent; AND

  Two (2) years of experience in the operation and maintenance of HVAC and refrigeration systems

  DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  Performs proper maintenance and repair of HVAC and refrigeration systems to include but not limited to:

  Maintaining, installing, and repairing heat pumps systems, air conditioning systems, chiller systems and building automated control systems

  Maintaining, installing, and repairing electrical, boiler, and propane heating systems to include pumps or other mechanical equipment

  Maintaining, fabricating, installing, and repairing HVAC duct systems and damper controls

  Maintaining, troubleshooting, and repair of Johnson Controls and other environmental control devices

  Maintaining, installing, and repairing roof top ventilation systems and associated hardware

  Brazing, soldering, and welding with acetylene, MAPP, and propane torches; servicing of refrigerant systems

  Establish and maintain records for refrigerant management and recovery per DEP guidelines

  Provide preliminary sketches and cost estimates for materials and services; perform heat load calculations

  Work from ladders, scaffolds, and roofs to install, maintain or repair HVAC systems and equipment

  Prepare sketches and/or follow blueprints to determine the location of wiring and equipment

  Maintaining, repairing, and installing HVAC and refrigeration systems in conformance w/building and safety codes

  Maintaining records and files, preparing reports and ordering supplies and equipment

  Coordinate and communicate procedures and/or status of work orders for the purpose of providing information for making decisions, taking appropriate action and/or complying with building, environmental, and safety regulations

  Performs proper maintenance and repair of electrical systems to include, but not limited to:

  Performing maintenance and repair on all building electrical systems, up to 480V, 3Ø to include indoor and outdoor lighting systems, electrical bus systems, electrical distribution panels, and secondary electrical feeders

  Installation of additional electrical wiring and systems up to 480V, 3Ø

  Maintaining, installing, performing inspections and testing of all building and equipment grounding systems

  Maintaining and performing inspections on all base lightning protection systems

  Maintaining and performing inspections on all base cathodic protection systems

  Maintaining and performing inspections on all base fire protection and alarm systems

  Maintaining and performing inspections on all base intrusion detection systems

  Performs all other assigned duties:

  Perform all other duties assigned to include but not limited to assisting other State Employees as required in their assigned duties.

  KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar.

  Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.

  Knowledge of the chemical composition, structure, and properties of substances and of the chemical processes and transformations that they undergo. This includes uses of chemicals and their interactions, danger signs, production techniques, and disposal methods.

  Skills in controlling operations of equipment or systems

  The ability to coordinate two or more limbs (for example, two arms, two legs, or one leg and one arm) while sitting, standing, or lying down. It does not involve performing the activities while the whole body is in motion.

  The ability to quickly move your hand, your hand together with your arm, or your two hands to grasp, manipulate, or assemble objects.

  The ability to use your abdominal and lower back muscles to support part of the body repeatedly or continuously over time without 'giving out' or fatiguing.

  The ability to keep your hand and arm steady while moving your arm or while holding your arm and hand in one position

  The ability to quickly and repeatedly adjust the controls of a machine or a vehicle to exact positions
