  RECEIVING TELLER I– HYANNIS GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Clerical and registration duties within the Boat, ATV and Snowmobile Bureau located in Hyannis, Massachusetts Detailed Statement of Duties: Processing Registration and Titling Applications • Validates and issues registrations, titles and permits both new and renewal • Check application and documents for completeness and accuracy. • Prove all records against computer. • Receive check, money order or credit card for permits both through the mail and over the counter. • Answers phone and directs calls from public and dealers on permits and registration requirements. • Opens sorts and distributes mail on a daily basis. Financial Processing • Prepares daily deposit and maintain records of financial transactions upon Supervisor request. • Daily direct deposits to financial institution. • Locates and retrieves information from records by searching files in order to respond to inquiries from other Agencies. • Assist the online customer with navigation through the public portal to renew their registration. • Operates standard office machines and equipment. Collateral Duties • Daily contact with DOR staff to ensure sales tax has been paid before processing a registration or permit. • This position may include travel to other registration offices should additional coverage be required • Performs additional First consideration will be given to those applicants that apply within the first 14 days. Minimum Entrance Requirements: Applicants must have at least (A) two years of full-time, or equivalent part-time, clerical experience, the major duties of which involved cashiering, bookkeeping, account recording or the direct handling of funds received or paid out, or (B) any equivalent combination of the required experience and the substitutions below. Substitutions: I. A diploma as evidence of graduation from a business or commercial course of a recognized high school or vocational/technical high school may be substituted for a maximum of one year of the required experience.* II. A diploma for completion of a one-year, full-time, or equivalent part-time, program in a recognized non-degree granting business school above the high school level with a major in bookkeeping, accounting or business administration may be substituted for a maximum of one year of the required experience.* III. A diploma for completion of a two-year, full-time, or equivalent part-time, program in a recognized, non-degree granting business school above the high school level with a major in bookkeeping, accounting or business administration may be substituted for the required experience.* IV. An Associate's or higher degree with a major in accounting, business administration or business management may be substituted for the required experience.* Education toward such a degree or diploma will be prorated on the basis of the proportion of the requirements actually completed.
