The Opportunity
The WestRock Analytical Services Group supports the company’s paperboard testing needs for customers, manufacturing locations, and research initiatives. A scientist’s role in the lab is to perform a variety of qualitative and quantitative analysis in support of business needs.
Responsibilities:
Conduct analysis and characterization of the samples submitted to the analytical group.
Interpret laboratory results and present reports to cross-functional teams with quick turnaround.
Participate in new method development and research projects.
Able to perform multiple tasks with minimal supervision.
Oversee analytical instrumentation and perform maintenance as needed.
Actively participate in and support the WRK safety program.
What You Need:
BS in chemistry/chemical engineering or related field
Strong fundamentals in organic chemistry and quantitative data analysis are required.
Experience with analytical techniques is preferred.
Understanding / experience in packaging or paper-making a plus.
Functions well in a fast-paced environment and manages competing priorities.
Ability to work independently and demonstrate initiative.
Good written and oral communication skills.
Minimal travel (<10%)
