Development Engineering Technician
System One is seeking to contract with a highly capable and motivated engineering technician to work with the test engineers to run fabrication on an experimental program. This work will involve:
Installation and cold testing of process equipment in lab
Testing of metals alloying steps using injection casting furnace
Full slug fabrication experimental runs including melting, casting, demolding and trimming.
Responsibilities
Support test engineers in DU Lab test operations:
Prepare for test runs (manage supplies and materials, equipment readiness, etc.)
Hands-on operation of test equipment, which may include, but is not limited to, induction furnace, industrial shear, general shop tools, laser fiberoptic systems, fumehoods, gloveboxes.
Run routine analytical procedures (physical measurements via calipers/gauges, chemical analysis via XRF, etc.)
Assist in preparation of samples for chemical analysis as necessary, which may include sectioning, polishing, or sample digestion.
Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
Contribute to the development of written test procedures, processes, and reports.
Effectively interface with facilities and safety personnel to facilitate work.
Key Qualifications and Skills
High school diploma or GED required; further education desirable - emphasis/interest in scientific subjects.
Radiation worker experience desirable but not required.
Previous experience in a laboratory setting is a plus.
Strong communication skills desired
The successful candidate will possess a high degree of trust and integrity, communicate openly and display respect, and a desire to foster teamwork.
Actual position starting level and title will be determined based on assessment of qualifications.
