SUMMARY
Hennepin Healthcare has a current opening for a Radiology Technologist or Radiology Technologist, Senior in our Radiology (Hospital) department. This full-time (1.0 FTE) position will work Monday through Friday from 3:00 - 11:30pm. This position includes a $5.00 per hour evening shift differential.
A $10,000 sign-on bonus is available for eligible external candidates (contract/temporary workers and former employees returning to HHS within one year are ineligible).
Under the direction of the area supervisor or lead technologist, performs imaging exams/procedures, provides patient care and technical functions to ensure quality radiographic images.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Performs general radiographic and fluoroscopic exams as applicableAdequately prepares room for proceduresReviews and verifies exam requests to ensure correct exam is ordered on the correct patientInterviews patients and reviews available clinical data from charts to alert nurses and/or physicians to possible contraindications for procedure (labs, allergies, etc.)Ensures patients receive the same level of care as provided on patient’s unitExplains exam procedure to patient and family members who are presentPrepares and administers oral and/or IV contrast per department protocolsDemonstrates correct anatomic positioning and exposure factors relating to area-specific examsFollows ALARA (as low as reasonably achievable) principleDemonstrates extensive knowledge of anatomy, physiology and effects of disease processes.Evaluates images, recognizes normal vs. abnormal anatomy and notifies the appropriate Radiologist as needed; takes appropriate action to address image quality issuesConsistently performs quality exams and ensures that department protocols are followed (positioning protocols, etc.)Utilizes the image management system; acquire, format, manipulate, archive and print images from the PACS systemAccurately reports total number of images taken and number of and reason for repeat radiographsAssists physicians and residents as required with radiology exams/proceduresUtilizes EPIC system appropriately (orders, scheduling documentation, and billing)Implements downtime procedures (manual operations) when computer systems or equipment failsInstructs new staff and students in imaging procedures and techniquesEvaluates and completes competency test-outs on students. Provides on-going feedback to Student Coordinator about any issuesAssists with education and training of medical staff (Radiology Residents, Fellows, etc.)Maintains equipment and room in proper working condition and trouble-shoots malfunctioning equipment. Reports malfunctions and necessary repairs to proper personnel as soon as issue is recognizedRespects and uses equipment appropriately. Completion of a formal educational Radiologic Technology program accredited by a mechanism acceptable to the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)Currently certified with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)Maintains minimum CEU credits as mandated by the ARRTPossess current CPR certification or obtain within 6 months of employmentPreferred Qualifications:
