They will also evaluate potential and/or actual radiation exposures, establishes appropriate control measures, approves written procedures, and assures compliance with pertinent policies and regulations. Under their direction, radiation safety staff administers the established site policy and program.The candidate should also have a working knowledge of occupational safety, both programmatically and practically.Your Day to Day:Maintain in-depth knowledge of federal, state and local radiation protection and occupational safety regulations and any changesPrepare and maintain radiological and environmental regulatory licenses, and permits at federal, state and local levelsAct as liaison between local, state, and federal emergency response and regulatory organizations on radiological and occupational safety mattersGenerate, analyze, trend and report common metrics for radiological and occupational safety (e.g. radiological dose, contamination, environmental and safety events)Evaluate potential and/or actual radiation exposures, establish appropriate control measures, develop and implement written procedures, and assure compliance with pertinent policies and regulationsDirect the radiation safety staff in administering the established site policy, collecting samples, performing analyses, taking measurements, maintaining records, and generally assisting in performing the technical aspects of the radiation protection programAssess organizational talent for radiological protection and safety staff and provide training to improve staff knowledgeEstablish and maintain site policies and set objectives to assure compliance with all regulatory and company requirements related to radiation protection and occupational safety programsInvestigate and advise management as to program status and make recommendations for program improvements to ensure continued compliance with radiation protection and occupational safety program requirementsConsult with management on radiation protection and occupational safety issues and serve as secretary on the Radiation Safety and Occupational Safety CommitteesDevelop and maintain training programs to instruct site personnel in the proper application of radiation protection and occupational safety procedures and radioactive material transportation requirementsAnalyze program costs and recommend improvements to reduce cost, improve safety or improve efficiencyAssess safety risks and hazards and implement effective controls that assure employee safety and healthConduct assessments and inspections of facility operations to assure compliance with radiation protection and occupational safety procedures, policies and regulationsOversee the physical security program for radioactive material in quantities of concern (10 CFR Part 37)Maintain contracts with approved dosimetry vendors that supply personnel and environmental dosimetryLead incident investigations or reviewsConduct radiological and EHS TrainingInvestigate and respond to employee concerns regarding EHS issues.Prepare shipping paperwork for shipment of radioactive equipment and radioactive disposal per the DOT 49 CFR regulationsPrepare task qualification matrix for the junior technician and provide pathway for their qualification to a senior radiation protection technicianWho You Are:Bach
