SUMMARY:
If you have experience as a Quality Coordinator or Quality Specialist , Emerson-Appleton Group Canada Ltd. has a great opportunity for you! Based in our Elmira, ON location , reporting to the Electrical Manufacturing Engineering Manager, you will be responsible for to maintain our Quality Management System to support the Company efforts to deliver a high quality, best-cost product that meets both Customer and Regulatory requirements. Help to support New Product Development and Production Part Approval Process as required.
As a team member of the Electrical Manufacturing Engineering team, you will support tasks and initiatives within our Quality functions.
This is an 8-month contract to start due to coverage for a leave.

IN THIS ROLE, Your Responsibilities Will Be:
1)Maintain The Quality Management Systems (70% of time)
Assist Quality/Safety Supervisor to provide guidance and support to Management for our Quality Management System and ensure our processes are maintained to meet ISO 9001 requirements.
Maintain calibrations of all gauges, testers, etc.
Review and update process maps, procedures and forms.
Maintain document control and control of records.
Coordinate defective returns/RGA processes internally and externally with suppliers or materials.
Maintain up-to-date internal reports – Scrap and RGA.
Assist with incoming inspection and other shop floor quality issues, DMT’s etc.
Lead Corrective/Preventative Actions.
Perform first-off and engineering new sample approval inspections.
Cost of Quality reporting to Corporate.
2)Lead Internal Quality Auditor (10% of time)
Organize, direct and support the internal quality auditing process that is necessary to meet company quality procedures and goals.
Prepare Internal Quality Audit Report and present to Management.
Coordinate with External Quality Auditors and assist in the preparation of any Corrective Action required following the audit.
Organize and support Continual Improvement activities.
3)Other duties to support Operations and Continuous Improvement (20% of time)
Support engineering processes development, PFMEA (Design and Process) and Control Plans, machines and equipment specifications required to support new & existing programs
Create and sustain the standard work (Work Instructions) for assigned manufacturing products
Apply continuous improvement methods such as lean manufacturing to enhance manufacturing quality, reliability, or cost-effectiveness
Assures completion of First Piece Inspections (FPI) and performs First Article Inspections (FAI) including APQP/PPAP for all components and assemblies
Provide guidance, inputs and completes the process PFMEA in collaboration with Engineering, Manufacturing and Operations team
Monitors product issues identified during NPD and the PROLaunch process to assure product and process readiness for Gate Reviews and product launch.
Organize and support Continual Improvement activities.
Assist and implement Perf(x) projects – Facilitator
Operate within the guidelines of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and support the company philosophy of 12 Safety Behaviors

REQUIRED Education, Experience & Skills
Five+ years of recent experience in a related industry
Knowledge and experience with ISO 9001
Auditor’s training
Familiar with engineering drawings, specifications, test equipment, gauges and fixtures
Proven knowledge, experience and competency with: APQP/PPAP, product inspections, PFMEA, reading Control Plans and machine/equipment specifications.
Ability to create standard work instructions.
Strong analytical problem solver; skilled at continuous improvement
Able to work well with multi-functional teams; well-developed interpersonal skills are required to relate effectively with people both internally and externally
Ability to prioritize work with minimum supervision and guidance
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
Strong organization and project management skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and proficient and comfortable using various computer software programs
Must have working knowledge of all product lines and operational processes (for JD)
Legal authorization to work in Canada – sponsorship will not be provided for this position .
PREFERRED Education, Experience & Skills
ASQ Certification would be an asset
Experience with New Product Development projects and PROlaunch or safe launch strategies
PAA System experience is an asset.
Experience with Lean manufacturing
