Description of Duties and Responsibilities:
• Ensures an ISO 9001:2015 compliant quality management system and other required certifications and approvals are maintained in accordance with Southwire standard processes.
• Directs quality department efforts to support production processes and Culture of Zero goals and objectives.
• Oversees customer engagement for customer quality audits, responses, returns, complaints, and issues.
• Drives implementation of proactive quality improvement projects and problem-solving processes including standard root cause analysis tools
• Standardizes product inspection and testing methods to ensure compliance with customer and industry standards.
• Supports deployment of companywide systems such as SAP Quality Management
• Uses operations and quality data to drive change supporting or leading cross-functional projects designed to analyze and design sequence of operations and workflows to identify opportunities to reduce waste using Lean Tools such as Poka-Yoke, 5S, Value Stream Mapping, Single Piece Flow, Pull Production, TAKT time production, Level Loading, Continuous Flow.
• Co-facilitates Kaizen events as appropriate to expand skills in driving continuous improvements in operations and office areas.
• Leads the maintenance of bill of materials and routings.
• Leader of cost out projects that may include Capital Expenditures.
• Plant leader of the link between the plant and product engineering to manage changes and corrections of drawings.
• Develops, fosters, and maintains relationships throughout the company through collaboration and teamwork to provide avenues for continued success and growth at the local site.
Qualification and Experience Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree in engineering with 3+ years quality management experience in a manufacturing environment preferred or combination of experience and education.
• ASQ Certified Quality Manager (CQM) or Certified Quality Engineer (CQM) is a plus.
• Knowledge of ICEA, AEIC, UL and ASTM testing standards a plus.
• Exceptional verbal and written communication abilities with strong interpersonal and leadership skills required.
• Experience in ISO 9001:2015 management systems compliance, continuous improvement and standard quality and operational excellence tools required.
• Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing tools a plus.
• Must have exhibited excellent analytical, statistical, and problem-solving skills.
• Proven leadership skills- engage people on a vision, drive change, team skills, and recognize the heart.
• Excellent computer and data management skills
• Previous experience with SAP QM a plus
• Six Sigma black belt, green belt or ASQ certification preferred.
• Previous technical supervisory experience demonstrating the ability to manage.
• The ability to travel up to 15% of the time.
